Venice – L.A.

Venice in L.A. is wonderful. There used to be loads of Canals here and now there are only a few. But such a lovely place.

Venice was just a short walk from the apartment, it leads onto Venice beach (hippie central). The small houses surrounding the canals will start rentals at around $10,000 per month for the low end of the market. Venice Beach

Venice Beach is not too far from the Canals, it’s a self-proclaimed centre of counterculture, and supposed hippie central.

There’s still some of this there, but some of it doth protest too much, and it’s quite apparent a lot of people are just there to make money from the perception. There’s also quite a disturbing element of people who have addiction or mental health issues there – not somewhere to go at night.

The beach itself is fine, off the beach you can buy anything from genuine artwork, ‘commercial hippie clothing’ and medical marijuana.
