Hitimoana Villa

Hitimoana Villa is our family run Pension in Tahiti. Everyone seems to be part of the family here, all very friendly but most staff only speak french. It has several self catering villas, a pool. It is surrounded by the pacific and a great spot for snorkeling.

We are located at what is known as PK30 in a region known as Papara (or as one of the owners said, ‘in the country’). As there is only 1 major route on the island which circumnavigates it, everything is measured as distance from Papeete the capital, so we are 30 km’s from there.

Just off the main (only) road out of Papeete

Look left from our terrace to the classic French restaurant

Like most of Tahiti everything is located in a small strip of land between the sea and tropical mountains.

Look right and it’s tropical jungle

There is a restaurant/ cafe attached to the complex, I would have expected some kind of bar selling burgers and beers, but no, not at all. What they have here is a top classic french dining experience with a classic French menu, Grand Cru wines and classic dishes. First night here I had a fillet mignon with bone marrow, dauphinoise potatoes and a gorgeous jus. Lovely. No tourists here – just locals.

Restaurant – Classic French Dishes only!

Everything is so lush!

Nice pool – dip every day so far!

Looks like there’s a tropical storm headed in!

All I can see is the Pacific!

I’m sold on Tahiti, it looks awesome! If you fancy reading a book set there, try The Way to Paradise by Mario Llosa – it’s half about Gauguin (who does come across as a bit of a tit, admittedly…).

If you ever come here you should Island hop. Tahiti is the gateway to French Polynesia and there are loads of islands in spitting distance, and bring snorkeling gear. We should really be island hopping to see what’s here, but, to be honest, we have made a conscious decision that we really can’t be a***d, this place is so relaxing.

There’s been no-one on the entire complex all week other than us. Last night there were even no staff 🙂

      I’ll look into the book.
