Long old journey from lake Manapouri to Queenstown, but the New Zealand landscape is a pleasure to drive in.
We stopped off after around 20 miles at Te Anau. Beautiful little place with a great vibe. We didn’t stay there but I would recommend it and we will next time.

Once past Te Anau we took the long diversion to Milford Sound. The drive is worth the miles, stunning scenery everywhere, it’s 30 degrees but there is still snow around, in some places down to road level.

From Milford it is 3 hours all the way back to Te Anau, then another 2 to Queenstown. The views on the way to Queenstown are equally stunning – but there are only so many pictures of Mountains and Lakes you can take.
You’ve taken some spectacular pictures, New Zealand is one place I’ve always wanted to visit, and more so now seeing all the scenic pictures and the tranquillity . I love Scotland and that has always taken my breath away, but NZ I always thought with lush greenery, water and mountains would be as beautiful, all I can say is wow, feeling a tinsy bit envious right now!! Deb you would absolutely love the views, very much like Scotland except the weather is much better, well at this time of year anyway!! It is absolutely breathtaking and every few miles there is another stunning view. We have loads more photos than are on the blog as we only have limited space, but I will bore you senseless with them when we get home!! You should take a trip out here, you would fall in love with NZ xx
