Port Macquarie is another lovely Australian town, lots of beaches, as is the standard for this part of the world..One thing Australia is not short of is beautiful clean beaches, and the majority of them are almost deserted!
While in Port Macquarie we visited the Koala hospital, a charity that looks after sick and injured Koala’s and tries to rehabilitate them back to their normal environment. Unfortunately there are a few that can’t be sent back to the wild due to their injuries, this could be that they are blind due to infection, or have been so badly injured in a bush fire or traffic accident that they would not survive in the outside world. The people who work here are mostly volunteers and they exist entirely on donations, no government funding. They do a wonderful job and the Koala’s are adorable!
