No swimming up here in the tropics

After driving up the Aussie coastline where every town has beaches everywhere, and half the population are surfing it’s a bit surprising to see no-one in the water. The beaches are here but scary stuff lies in wait – and they’re not joking.

The primary culprits seem to be Marine Stingers (jellyfish), and Estuarial Crocodiles.

The stingers are catagorised as being tropical and subtropical, up here they are all tropical, and dangerous. Treatment for a stinger is cover yourself in vinegar and call an ambulance. I am guessing treatment for tangling with a crocodile is lots of surgery and maybe artificial limbs if you’re unlucky.
