Durians

A note on Durians. We’ve not been to Asia before, so this is new to us. Durians – the king of fruit. “… its odor is best described as pig-shit, turpentine and onions, garnished with a gym sock.”

Around Chinatown we noticed that in 2 places there was a very odd and disagreeable smell. We narrowed it down to 2 stalls selling Durians, and did a bit of research into them. You can smell the fruit from the stalls at around 100 yards or so.

Durians

I get the impression they are a bit marmiteseque with some people who really like them. In the interest of research I should have tried one – simply cannot face it. More Info Here – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durian

They are banned on the Singapore MRT (underground).
