Well, that’s our last night in Australia, and it’s off to Singapore for new year. So it’s goodbye to the land of abbreviations.
It’s been a great time here. We have travelled a lot and not covered a lot of the country. Overall you get the sense of size, distance and not much in the spaces in between. Not surprising really, as that’s exactly what it says on the tin.
There are some nice small towns, which have the obligatory stunning beaches. Nice cities have a great vibe and sense of community in them even though they are cities. If you like spotless and endless beaches, just come, they are everywhere. This is also a bit of a downside, it’s pretty much beaches and bush all the way (there may be a joke in there I couldn’t possibly say).
If you’re coming I’d do what we did, split the time between cities and small towns on the coast. Unless of course you’re a beachaholic, in which case you can’t go far wrong anywhere. Do remember though, don’t go too far north if you want to surf! There be monsters.
We’d happily come back for a holiday, but not in a rush to. Australia is great at what it offers, but it only offers what it offers.
