An hour or so drive from our hotel but still within Saigon are the Cu Chi tunnels. A huge tunnel complex where the Viet Cong masterminded several military campaigns during the Vietnam war.
A truly fascinating place, no idea how people managed to exist in there tunnels at all.

Even though the tunnels have been enlarged somewhat to allow tourists to follow some of the routes, they are seriously small.
They had several demonstrations of various man traps in use throughout the tunnel complex. All designed to maim and not to kill.

They have effectively ‘taken the roof off’ several workrooms which would have been underground.
