On the way to Byron Bay

Just one night in Coffs Harbour then on to Byron Bay. I don’t suppose anyone knows which 80’s fictional couple had their honeymoon in Coffs Harbour?

We didn’t know we were staying in Byron Bay, just headed in that direction with a view to stopping when we found somewhere interesting. The trip was typical of our Aussi trip. Small towns with beautiful beaches no-one on any of them.

First stop was Grafton, a town full of historic building, which seems to have a history of being flooded quite badly, quite a lot. Grafton was a bit inland, so no beaches here. We got here about 11, and pretty much everything was closed.

Grafton

And boy oh boy, they must have been proud of this award, still on display since 1983!

Top Tidy Town – 1983!!!

Then on to Yamba for a spot of lunch.  I had a chicken and gravy sandwich, which sounds odd but was divine.

Yamba

A perfect example of Aussie language, anything can be understood if you simply get rid of lots of letters and add an ‘O’ to then end of the word.

If in doubt – add an O!

More Drive Through Bottleshops!

From Yamba it’s on to Angourie. Small place. Not sure what goes on here at night.

Spooky!

Then on through Ballina. Not much there but the seafood is huge.

One hell of a big prawn!

Finally we get to Byron Bay.
